Privacy policy
SideTally is an app for tracking side hustle and small business income and expenses. This policy explains what happens to the information you put into it. The short version: what you enter in the app stays on your device, and we never receive it. The only thing we receive is feedback you choose to send us.
Information you enter
The income, expenses, customer and vendor names, notes, goals and settings you enter are saved only in your browser's storage on the device you're using. They are not sent to us or to anyone else. We have no way to see, collect or recover them.
Feedback you send
If you use the Send feedback form, we receive what you type: your message, the topic you pick, your answer to the pricing question, which page you sent it from, and your email address if you choose to include one. Feedback is collected through Netlify Forms. We use it only to improve SideTally and, if you gave an email, to reply to you. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your feedback. To have a message deleted, send another feedback message asking us to remove it.
Accounts
SideTally does not have user accounts. We don't ask for your name, email address, phone number or payment details.
Analytics, ads and tracking
We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count anonymous visits: which pages are opened, which website sent you, your general device type and country, and a few actions such as tapping "Start tracking free" or installing the app. Umami uses no cookies, doesn't follow you across other sites, and doesn't identify you. It never receives anything you enter in the app.
SideTally has no advertising, tracking cookies or cross-site trackers, and we do not sell or share any data.
Services SideTally relies on
- Netlify hosts the website and app files. Like most web hosts, it may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for security and reliability. See Netlify's privacy policy.
- Netlify Forms receives and stores feedback you choose to send.
- Umami provides the anonymous visit counts described above. See Umami's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts provides the typefaces. When the app loads, your browser requests font files from Google. See Google's privacy policy.
Backups
The Copy backup feature copies your data to your device's clipboard so you can save it wherever you choose. Where that copy goes is up to you.
Deleting your data
Use Settings → Erase all data in the app, uninstall the app, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. Because we never hold your data, there's nothing for us to delete on our side.
Children
SideTally is intended for adults earning their own income and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
